Jan Kavka is young czech jazz pianist and composer from Ostrava. He graduated from a master's degree program at the Music Academy im Karola Szymanowskiego in Katowice (Poland). He was a member of young and successful band Ostrich quartet. With this band he successfully participated in competitions (Jazz Fruit 2014 - Prague, Powiew młodego jazzu 2014 - Jelenia góra, Powiew młodego jazzu 2015 - Jelenia góra, European jazz competition 2015 - Rotterdam)

He started to play on piano by the age of 5 but the real interest came when he was 16. In these times he started to play with his classmate from grammar school. After graduation exam in grammar school he passed the entrance exam to Janáček conservatory in Ostrava and started to study composing here for 3 years. During these years he established his first jazz band with original compositions. The name of this band was Jazz Class Quartet. In 2012 he left conservatory then he had one year study break and then passed the entrance exam to Music Academy im. Karola Szymanowskiego in Katowice. In 2016 he graduated bachelor degree study program and in 2018 a master degree study program in jazz piano interpretation as a member of class of great piano player and teacher prof. Wojciech Niedziela.
